New Officers for next year
During the third quarter’s Business Meeting, the officers for 2008 were elected. Their terms will start on January 2008, and some will serve a two-year term, while others will be on their second year of their two-year term. During these few months, there will be combined meetings for all departments to transfer responsibility, plan for next year’s ministries, propose budget, and among other pertinent matters. May the Lord continue to bless all of them as they are willing to sacrifice their time and resources for the Lord.
Building Project Update
The foundation has been poured, and the underground work to lay pipes for electrical and plumbing is on schedule. The next major event is pouring of the concrete slab, follow by the delivery of steel, which is scheduled for mid-October. We had our Celebration Dinner on Saturday (Sept. 29), and amount of pledges has not been tallied at this time. Please continue to pray for this project so that God is glorified throughout this process.

According to the information provided by the city to our architect, the date will be October 8. Let us put our efforts together to pray for an approval. After the approval, we need to decide on choosing a General Contractor. The Building Project Committee members have been busy interviewing and processing all the information provided by different contractors. Let us encourage and support them, and also pray that they will make a wise choice.

Officers’ Retreat
We had our Annual Officers’ Retreat on October 27, and around thirty members came. Before the retreat, a few showed up to clean up the construction site as an effort to save money. We had a great time getting things done, and the retreat started on time! After praise and devotion, the theme “God’s Calling, our Passion” was introduced. We also tentatively set the Church Calendar for next year. Followed with small groups to share their Calling and Passion, we then prayed. Finally, all of us went on the building pad to visualize the first floor layouts, and all of us held hands to pray. It was awesome!
Building Project Update
We have officially applied to amend the Second Phase of the Building Project. This includes keeping the existing multi-purpose building and renting off-site parking. We should hear from the City in about a month. Please pray for the approval of this amendment. Not only does it mean we can save on construction cost, it also means we can keep the fond memories of dripping “blood, sweat and tear” when we physically built it ourselves twenty years ago.
We are also in the process of “Value Engineering” to cut cost. The Building Committee is planning to call a special meeting on November 18 to provide a complete building plan and budget. We are hoping to have a more manageable cost breakdown at that time.
